SHARS Benefit Updates for Audiology Services – Oct. 1, 2025
HHSC conducted a public hearing on Aug. 4, 2025, to receive public comments on proposed Medicaid payment rates to School Health and Related Services (SHARS) reimbursement methodology. The live stream of the meeting can be accessed on HHSC’s Live & Archive Meetings webpage.
Updates Include:
- Update procedure codes for auditory rehabilitation associated with prelingual and post-lingual hearing loss.
- Expand SHARS coverage to include pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, and conditioning play audiometry, all existing Texas Medicaid benefits.
The effective date of the rate adjustments for the topics presented during the rate hearing will be Oct. 1, 2025.
