Your district’s SHARS August and September 2021 deadline is here!

HHSC requirements state “Claims must be submitted within 365 days from the date of service, or no later than 95 days after the end of the Federal Fiscal Year (i.e., January 3), whichever comes first.”

Dates of service prior to October 1, 2021 must be entered and signed in ONWARD before your staff leaves on holiday break.  This includes dates of service that fall in August and September 2021.  Federal regulations require this as we close the federal fiscal year.  Claims submitted after the FFY cut off will no longer be eligible for reimbursement and the district will lose the reimbursement in their interim payments.

To ensure your district is maximizing interim reimbursements, please speak with your full-time, part-time and contracted SHARS staff as soon as possible to ensure they have documented all eligible SHARS sessions for students that received services in August and September.  Do not forget about your Specialized Transportation Department!  Bus logs for specially adapted routes must be submitted to ONWARD prior to the district going on holiday break.

Your ONWARD team recommends running Administrator reports to identify provider participation and target any unsigned or unentered sessions.
